About Me

Julie started painting at the age of two, and began to study art history at the age of 10 at the Moscow State Museum of Fine Arts. Growing up in Moscow, surrounded by masterpieces of art and architecture, art became her passion. In 1991, she graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute with "summa cum laude" honors. Her highly individual and imaginative style is a result of blending her formal training in architecture with her natural artistic abilities and classical European schooling. She has had numerous shows in Russia, and many others worldwide, including London, various European countries, Japan, and the UAE. Since January 2000, Julie has resided and worked on Maui. Her paintings are meticulous in detail and follow the best artistic traditions.
In October of 2002 her still-life, Mom’s Table" was selected for the cover of the 2003 edition, "New Art International," distributed to over 20,000 galleries, by Book Art Press of NY. Here’s what they had to say about her:
"An artist with the ability to stimulate utterly different sensations of applications she shifts subject matter and approach, Julie Galeeva invests her scenes with an astutely imparted perception of area.
Much of this accelerated sense may be attributed to her training at the Moscow Architectural Institute in her native Russia, where she graduated with "summa cum laude" honors. Her remarkable series of cityscapes, while obviously benefiting from her architectural studies of spaces, possess an added richness atmosphere which won her a special award from President Boris Yeltsin in 1998.
The classical tone in many of her works may owe something to her studies of masterpieces of European art, but her lyrical flow of her fantasy scenes and the bright Hawaiian landscapes which have graced her easel since moving to Maui in early 200 are more likely to have found inspiration in her own individual observations and experiences in life.
Galeeva-McCollum participated in art shows in Moscow, Geneva and Vienna. She is a member of Moscow Association of Artists, the International Federation of Artists, UNESCO and the International Art Fund. Her work has also exhibited in Abu-Dhabi, UAE; Larnaca, Cyprus; Budapest, Hungary; London, England and many other sites."

During the past 20 years Julie , as an important Hawaiian artist, has become the pillar of Maui art community, making  her gallery a “ must see “ stop for art collectors with exquisite and discerning taste, including celebrities and visionaries. To quote Walter Park : ” My discovery of her gallery was like finding a pearl, her art is most eclectic on Maui, one of the best artists I've collected worldwide, creating the legacy for herself  and the clients. Julie is relentless in her pursuit of excellence, her art has that breath of life, that emotion behind that captures imagination, resonates with you and makes you pause in awe...she uses array of techniques to achieve that effect, but feeling of harmony, grace, beauty coming from viewing is  very genuine and transferred from above through the heart."

According to Internationally recognized  Visionary Loren Adams, Jr.:  "With such a unique upbringing and background, Julie does art of “Recognized Quality “ in accordance with best classical traditions and imagination. In the league of her own, painting daily for the sake of art, you can see contemporary Master artist that is a real “living treasure”, making pursuit of her desire to serve world with art with beauty as an  example of living your purpose with integrity, joy and love for others."

Specialization
"I have always loved that quality in the best examples of art, music, and literature; how it washes away all daily grind and leaves you to feel the best of you and all around you.I thrive to create it in every piece, big or small, in every subject and style. There is nothing better than original art that has that timeless quality….”
Says Galeeva :”I love painting originals in oil on fine linen and canvas, derived from life and my studies and travels. I use old masters techniques to create feeling of depth and  realistic perception, with finest details to make your eyes believe that it's alive and transfer you to the place, if it's a landscape or  cityscape, I create the story within it. When it's done, the piece has life of its own on your wall, like a portal that connects you to the Source through beauty of physical world, bringing you to spiritual realm behind it. I use different applications of color, texture of palette knife and smallest brushstrokes for this effect; to capture the feeling of space or the emotion that raises vibration. As results, any painting offers meditative quality, easily captivating a viewer’s attention and directing it inwards; like channeling inspiration from your higher self, thus receiving tranquility and peace. I have always loved  that quality in the best examples of art, music, and literature; how it washes away all daily grind and leaves you to feel best of you and all around you. I thrive to create it in every piece, big or small,  every subject and style. There is nothing better then original art that has that timeless quality…
